Seinfra closes financing with BID for highway building projects in the Ceará III Program

Ceará State's Infrastructure secretary, Adail Fontenele, is in Brasília where he is meeting until Wednesday (10) with International Development Bank (IDB) representatives at the headquarters of this body in order to finalize the financing agreement of the Ceará Highway Program (Ceará III) to be invested in highway building and repair projects of Ceará's highway network. "The highway program will repair municipal roads with investments of R$ 28 million," highlighted the secretary. The Program is estimated at US$ 254.3 million, of which the State Government should invest US$ 95.7 million of its own funds in the next five years. The highway investments integrate the building projects that are part of the Monitoring of Priority Actions and Projects (MAPP), which invests R$ 5.5 billion in building projects this year. "We hope to repair 1,000 kilometers of roads and build another 500 kilometers within the next five years," said Adail Fontenele pointing out that even without the signature of the final contract with IDB, the State Government has already begun working on 300 km of roads to repair and another 90 km of roads under construction.

The State Government is already investing funds for building and repairing 16 highway sections, which include paving projects of CE-153, the Banabuiú-Solonópole stretch, CE- 445 between Reriutaba and Pacujá, and CE- 060 between the Zorra district and Piquet Carneiro. Another two sections await the signature of the Service Order and seven sections are in the bidding process whose price proposals should be opened on the 15th and 16th of this month.

The general objectives of the Program are based on the duplication, paving, and repair of State Highways in order to give the state a highway infrastructure that will allow it to distribute internal production, improve traffic conditions and highway safety, improve the State's highway integration, and contribute to its economic and social sustainable development. The execution and inspection of the building projects are done by the Department of Buildings and Highways (DER), which is the body linked to Seinfra. In July, according to information from the secretary, two important building projects will be put up for bid that will improve the road network in Fortaleza already looking toward the World Cup Football games, which is the Padre Cícero Avenue viaduct and the lengthening of Senador Carlos Jereissati Avenue all the way to Expedicionários Avenue.
